Monday, May 30, 2005: Memorial Day for some people is thought of as just another holiday where we can relax and have a day off from work. My hope is that at some point during the day, everyone remembers why we celebrate Memorial Day. Let's honor the many men and women who corageously serve and have served our country. This weekend, Terry and I headed up north to Door County. Ah, the start of tourist season. If it's called tourist season, why can't we shoot them? I have teased Terry many times about growing up in Door County, but it's during tourist season where I'm glad that he knows all the back roads so we don't have to deal with the stupid idiots (not just FIBs but idiots from our own state, sad to say) on the main highways. My goal this summer (during visits to Door County) is to dine somewhere either I or we have never been to. This last weekend, we went to Vilagio's in Juddville. It has a casual atmosphere so I didn't feel underdressed in jeans. I would say the atomosphere is equal to that of Victoria's in Green Bay and you get just as much food. I happened to try one of the pizza's, which had a sufficient amount of cheese for my liking. If you are ever in that neck of the woods, I highly reccomend it...and make reservations. posted by Maryanne @ 1:13 PM | | Monday, May 09, 2005: Weekend Adventures This weekend took us on a couple of adventures. Friday: Since both Terry and I had the day off, we decided to venture to Waukesha to Terry's alma mater, Carroll College. We headed off about 1:00 or so and made it in about an hour. It was a nice day which made for good travel weather. I got a brief tour of the campus and of Main Hall which has changed since Terry graduated. I got Terry his birthday present or presents I should say. He is now the proud owner of a Carroll College T-Shirt and Polo shirt. We met our friend Dan and his girlfriend for dinner at La Estascion (formerly Jaliscos). The menu was very similar to that of La Hacienda here in Madison. Saturday: We went to the God forsaken state of Illinois. Thank you Amy and Luke for driving. But, most importantly, Congrats Leanne on graduating!! Sunday : Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday Terry. We saw Hitchikers Guide to The Galexy. Terry, you owe me.....It was dumb, dumb, and did I say dumb? There were only a couple of funny lines in the movie. I think the only thing that makes it worthy of mentioning in my blog/website is the fact that it is very cheesy, but not a good cheese. My reccomentation, save the money for a rainy day or better yet a good block of aged cheddar. posted by Maryanne @ 4:34 PM | | Republican I am not....
