Memories...

Recently I became aware of a special on PBS that I am really regretting that I missed. "Country Boys" is a three part series featuring the lives of two high school boys in eastern Kentucky. They attend The David School in David, Kentucky. I spent two spring breaks in David while I was in college. I am definately ordering the DVD.
The service trips were truely amazing and life altering experiences. The interview with Danny Greene mentions how the old school (building) that they were in was very dangerous and they were being threatened to shut down
"And we began construction [in 1989]. But it took a close to eight years. We were finally able to get in the building in March 1997. …
I was part of that experience. The school was still located in the old building on my first trip in 1996. It was Viterbo's first service trip. We were accompanied by Notre Dame and one other college/university whose name is blank right now and we spent time cleaning out the old bulding and helping out with anything else that the school needed.
I went back in 1998. This time we (my group) didn't spend as much time at the school since most of us had already volunteered there. It was amazing to see the changes that had taken place since we were last there. We ended up voluntering at a St Vinnie's/Thrift Shop type outfit and helped them organize the store, which was no easy matter. We got to hike the Appalachian mountains and still spend time with the David School.
Words cannot describe how these two trips changed my life and my views. It's a type of experience that I hope someday that Sarah will be able to have.

Growing...

Sarah had her two week check up yesterday. She's now 7 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches. Still a lil peanut but as long as she's growing that's all that matters. Next appointment will be at two months.

Home Alone

Terry went back to work today so I was alone with Sarah for most of the day. It proved to be challenging. So, they say to sleep when the baby sleeps. This is of course in the afternoon when I'm not tired. It would be helpful if she would sleep at 2am when I'm fighting to keep awake. *sigh*

Updates and whatnot...

So, it's been awhile since I've blogged and a lot has happened since then. Christmas and New Year's came and went. Both were spent quietly. On New Year's Eve, Terry and I went to see Goblet of Fire at the IMAX at Star Cinema. Even though I had seen it before, it was nice to see it on the huge screen and have the quality sound.

Our biggest news happened January 5th. I finally gave birth to our daugher Sarah Elisabeth at 2:33 am. She was 6lbs 8 oz (just a lil peanut). Her arrival was earlier than expected but a blessing none the less. Life since then hasn't been the same. Sleep is a luxury. I have been getting up with Sarah during the night since Terry will soon be going back to work. I hope that when he actually does go back to work that I'll be able to sleep when Sarah does. Hopefully I'll post some pictures at a later date.

Tomorrow will bring my 32nd birthday. Because of all that has happened, it will be pretty uneventful. That's ok though, birthdays aren't what they used to be anyway.
