Thursday, June 30, 2005: After my fiasco with SBC, I stewed on the idea for a little while and yesterday decided to give Charter a call. We have been receiving flyer upon flyer about their phone service. So, after 3 phone calls (because my cell phone kept cutting out, hence the reason for wanting a land line) I got set up for phone service with Charter. Yes, they are evil but it will actually save me money in the long run. I will be paying just a few dollars more for adding the phone service and upgrading internet services. Woo hoo. posted by Maryanne @ 7:14 AM | | Got Gas? So I see the price of gas is on the rise? Terry and I had a discussion yesterday on why exactly Wisconsin's gas prices are so insanely high. Yes, I know that it is the Wisconsin gas tax but where the hell does the money go? I can go to Minnesota and pay .30 less per gallon. posted by Maryanne @ 7:12 AM | | Thursday, June 23, 2005: Phone Service The people at SBC are a bunch of freakin morons. I want to set up a land line because we get crappy reception on our cell phones in our own home. Local calls only, nothing fancy. So, I go online to set up local service. All goes well as I select my options. Even set up an installation time, phone number, whatnot. As I'm looking over my order form and I realize that I needed to change some information so I hit the change button. I change the information and then the page expires and I can't get back to where I was. Any logical person would think that when they called customer service that they would be able to get some help. Oh no....I was told that the person on the other line was a live person and that they didn't deal with online orders. I asked if there was a help desk. Nope, I would have to follow the prompts on my computer screen. She asked if I had to enter an email address and told me to check my email (and of course there is no email from SBC in my mail box). Told the rep she was a lot of help and hung up. Freakin morons.... posted by Maryanne @ 3:04 PM | | Wednesday, June 15, 2005: Innocent until proven guilty Michael Jackson is not guilty, according to the jury. As I have said from the beginning, we will never know whether he's a child molester or not. What we do know is that he has A LOT of issues and needs serious help. posted by Maryanne @ 12:59 PM | | Monday, June 13, 2005: Friends, family, whatnot... Terry and I ventured to Minnesota this weekend. The drive up could have been better weather wise. Traffic was busy as ususal from Madison to Wisconsin Dells. This weekend I became a godmother for the third time. Alexander Bruce Charles Black (1 month old today) was baptized on Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The preist had asked where the sponsors were from. The two godfathers are from Owatonna. I, of course had to be the odd ball from Wisconsin. He mentioned that he was going to use the word "peculiar" in the sermon. I told him it was fitting since he was in Minnesota. To sum up the weekend...you find out quckly who your true friends are and how friends can become family. posted by Maryanne @ 8:06 AM | | Wednesday, June 08, 2005: Summer Technically it's not summer but it sure feels like it. I won't complain too much because I do enough complaining in the winter when the temperatures are sub zero. Summer does bring better work schedules though. I will work till 1:00 on Fridays which is oh so very nice. Thank you WEA. Makes flexing during the week a little more hectic but it's better than the alternative. posted by Maryanne @ 12:56 PM | | Sunday, June 05, 2005: New Car Well, almost. Over the last few weeks I have put in some serious cashola into the Boopmobile. First was a trip to Stark, where I thought I was going to get a tune up but ended up to be a $550.00 shopping trip. They suggested a 100,000 maitenence check. Normally in this situation I would have declined their money making scheme but I figured that the only thing I have had done to my car in the 5 years that I've had it is routine oil changes. So, I gave in. Friday, I took my car to Holmes Tire and Automotive. I knew this was going to be an expensive appointment as well considering my front tires had almost no tread and were cracking badly. The car was also making some noises that were really quite scary. So, $662.00 later and 4 new tires, new front breaks, rotors and allignment (which was needed VERY badly), I practically have a new car. Hopefully it lasts until I'm able to trade in within the year. posted by Maryanne @ 6:19 AM | | |
